Beautiful Memories by Adrian von Ziegler

There’s a reason Adrian is one of my most favorite music composers and that I love almost every single song he’s composed: it’s because of the pure EMOTION and HEART that he puts into each piece. This song he wrote for his then long-distance girlfriend, now sweet wife, Carina. AND YOU CAN HEAR HIS LOVE AND LONGING FOR HER IN THIS PIECE. YOU JUST CAN. It’s so bittersweet. The yearning is incredible. I resonate with the emotion strongly being in a long-distance relationship myself. I can hear the pain and love because I know it myself, and it’s amazing to find something like that in a single instrument deliver song. ❤ Just wow.

Move Your Body by Sia. I just love Sia so much; her songs are just so memorable and powerful to me. This is another one of my biking songs, too. Such a great tempo and beat!! ❤

Me & My Girls by Selena Gomez. This is such a unique song from Selena Gomez and it sounds so raw and teasing and fun. I love her Spanish origins coming through in this song; it makes me want to go wild with a bunch of a good girlfriends for the night.

Magnets by Lorde. At one point I couldn’t stop listening to this song; the beat and tempo are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING. I absolutely love beats Lorde can create in her songs.

soundtrack

A Man For All Seasons Theme from A Man For All Seasons. This is actually a really good film and I remember being really spellbound by the music a child for whatever the reason. I just really love this theme; the harpsichord is just beautiful; it’s so haunting and medieval.

Mirror’s Edge Theme from Solar Fields. I WROTE A SHORT STORY TO THIS SOUNDTRACK. I love it so much. It really gave me the underwater vibe I was needing to immerse myself into the dreamscape setting I was writing. Just so beautiful and airy!

Makoto Kowata from Flying Witch. Screw this anime for actually being so enjoyable. This has become one of my favorite relaxing, comfort songs! Beautiful piano, guitar, and flute! ❤

independent/instrumental

Merchant Prince by Thomas Bergerson. Hands down one of my favorite songs of all time. I generally don’t care of slow songs, but this one builds up to a epic finale and I’ve never grown tired of it in over five years of listening to it. Just a pure epicness.

Morrigan by Adrian von Ziegler. I love how this song starts off more steady and soft, and then swells into more rhythm adventure/quest/mountain conquering like music with the swell in tempo and instrument usage. Such a rich, dark celtic song. Also the bird cry throughout is a fantastic addition and adds excellent atmosphere.

alternative

Misbehavin’ by Pentatonix. This song is actually very personal to me; the words hold a lot of meaning to my personal life and my personality and stance on loyalty. Besides this just being a really enjoyable song by PTX, its just a incredibly relevant song to me. I love songs like that! <3<3<3

Meadowland by Amethystium. I remember the first time I heard this when it began on Pandora and I loved it immediately! Just UGH. I LOVE IT.

Mama by EXO. Hands down on the best KPop songs ever, at least in my book. Everything about this music video and song is stellar. I love the unique monk-like chanting throughout especially. This is such a powerful song with POWERFUL vocal work and it’s just amazing to listen to. Everything else is just fantastic: sets, costumes, dancing, special effects, power. Just wow. ❤ In so many ways, Kpop blows western music videos WAY out of the water.

musicals

Maria from The Sound of Music. Classic. Classic. Classic. My childhood. Ugh. I can still sing this without missing a beat. Ugh. Just classic.

Marian the Librarian from The Music Man. Ahhhhh this musical. And this song is great; sadly I can’t find a good full version; in its entirety there is some AMAZING choreography with the dance number, but the song by itself is almost just as good.

ABC Challenge || “K”

pop/contemporary (and musical)

For the first time, I can’t actually find a favorite pop or musical song beginning with K. Wow. So, take extra joy in the soundtrack and songs I found below. ❤

soundtrack

Ki Toi To from Wolf Children. I kid you not when I say this one of the most powerful bit of musical score I’ve ever heard in a movie. This scene, the children and their mother discovering the joys of snow and tumbling through forests and down great hills, hit every joyful emotional moment thanks to this track. You can just feel it, the joy and spring the step, the rolling landscape, the cymbals with each whirlwind of snow. Just. This is the power of music people. ❤

Kingdom Dance from Tangled. Tangled is not one of my favorite Disney movies, but I really love this track from the score. You just want to join in and do a reel with everyone else by the end of it.

Kimi wa Wasurerareru no from Your Lie in April. The first track from the heartbreaking and goregous music anime, Your Lie in April. I love how peaceful this track is. ❤

independent/instrumental

Kidney Thief from Audiomachine. I’ve been writing book scenes to this song for over four years now, because it just happens to be that awesome. I love the combination of the heavy guitar and modern percussion with epic vocal chorus. It’s just really really awesome. Totally the theme for a kidney theif. XD

Kingdom of Bards by Adrian von Ziegler. This is just beautiful. Adrian uses harps superbly in his music and I love it. But just wait for that soft punch in the gut from the choir at 1:20. Just wow. Wow. There is a reason Adrian is one of my favorite composers for my writing music ever.

Kami by Adrian von Ziegler. To compensate for lack of pop and musical numbers, I’m including another song by Adrian that is oriental themed. Very enchanting and gentle, yet otherworldly and kind of intimidating in sound. I really love oriental influenced music like this.

alternative

Kinsei by Susumu Hirasawa. I played this when I felt nervous on bus rides with intimidating passengers. It had a soothing, upbeat, energetic happiness to it that helped fight some of my nerves getting to and from school. And if you know anything about what I love in music, it’s music by Hirasawa. Bow to the master. ❤

Kingdom of Love from One Night With the King. I rediscovered this while searching for songs that began with K, and I remembered how much I loved this song’s and its use in the movie. It just a very grand, gorgeous song with wonderful soft percussion, sweeping choirs, and a stunning vocal lead. ❤

Fix a Heart by Demi Lovato. I love Demi as a role model and I enjoy her music. I really love this song as it touches very clearly on what it feels like to have a hurting heart.

soundtrack

Far East Suite from Fullmetal Alchemist. LONG TIME FAVORITE of mine! Just ugh, love that pizzicato!! So chirpy and peaceful!

classical

Fire by Brian Crain. I’m currently learning this song on the piano. I love how bittersweet it is; dark and glowing.

independent/instrumental

Fairy Forest by Adrian von Ziegler. Such gorgeous harp work! Dainty, magical, shy, playful; if this isn’t what a forest full of fairies sounds like, I don’t know what else could!

alternative

Flyers from Death Parade. I will forever love this song; will never get tired of it either! Paired with its visuals, its just one of those songs that makes you want to jump up and start dancing; to get completely lost in its world. Bouncy and spirited to say the least!

Forces from Berserk. Couldn’t not include Forces, it being my favorite song from all anime written by the brilliant Susumu Hirasawa. This is the anthem of bloody, dark world of Berserk, where there are no happy endings, tragedy and character angst, and gore, gore, gore. It’s a battle song, a rally song. It’s powerful and passionate, triumphant and wailing. It’s Forces. I will always love it.

musicals

Friend Like Me from Aladdin. Ahhhh the classic Aladdin song featuring the wonderful Robin Williams! I didn’t grew up with this movie, but this song sold it to me! ❤

Blank Space by Taylor Swift. It was a toss up between this and Bad Blood, but I’m going to share this song because one of the lyrics.  “Got a long list of ex-lovers, they’ll tell you I’m insane, cause you know I love the players and you love the game.” Taylor Swift is one of the first pop stars I’ve heard to actually address both sides of chaotic relationships. People always focus on how girls fall for players, and yet no one ever points out how much guys love playing the game too.

soundtrack

Battle Training from Hero Acadamia. This sounds much more like crazy romp through the countryside then superhero battling, thanks to the incredible banjo and tempo! This is such an amazing blend of instruments, from the horns, electric guitar, modern percussion, banjo and electro sounds!

classical

Beautiful Memories by Adrian Von Ziegler. UGH THE PURE EMOTION IN THIS SONG. It’s so delicate and wistful and full of longing. To me this song is the embodiment of the emotions of love and long distance, which is no surprise as the composer wrote this for his long distance girlfriend (now beautiful wife. <3) Knowing the joys and aches of long distance love myself, I can hear and feel this song’s emotions within myself. It hurts so badly yet is worth every moment for the sheer beauty of knowing and waiting for true love.

independent

Bushido by Adrian von Ziegler. A world music piece, also by Adrian von Ziegler. I LOVE the percussion work in this piece. It’s one of my work out songs because the tempo and beat is perfection.

alternative

Begin Again by Purity Ring. I have a soft spot for electropop. I love haunting, angsty songs in general, especially if they can loop brilliantly like this.

musicals

Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast. Alongside The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast is a personal favorite Disney film for me. I love every moment of this film, but amongst all the perfection, this is truly one of the most magical songs (and animated spectacles) of the film. ❤
