Phantom by BLVCK CEILING

Don’t underestimate this song when it starts out; it might be tinkly piano and apprehension to begin with. Then that beat drops. This piece has become a personal favorite of mine when I heard it because it brought the villain to my long-time ongoing novel series to life in a fresh way that I hadn’t heard before. I can hear my character anew in this song; between the anxiety and delicate emotion of fear and the steady angry heavy beat of reckless choices and hate. Of the many ways music works in my head, bringing characters to life like this is maybe my favorite way.

Get Low by Dillon Francis and Dj Snake

This is becoming a long time favorite of mine. Its one of those few songs were the drop is actually satisfying to me and getting to it doesn’t slay me from being too long. I love the drop at 2:30. All the notes and elements work just right for me. Even as a writer, its given me some great inspiration for several different scenes and how they play. That’s always fantastic!

Bon Appétit by Katy Perry (nsfw)

I feel like the only person who flipping loved the new sound Katy Perry is cranking out. This sound here is my JAM. It checks off all the right boxes for me between the minor key and dark and rhythmic beat. While I can do without the rapping, it’s not bad either. But dang, I love Katy’s new sound. I also like the sensual side to this song, while she highlights the reality that women are often viewed as a five-course meal for the male appetite. I love it, once I start listening I can’t stop. It repeats WAY too easily. ❤
